- Reconceptualizing Arcology
Revisits arcology’s founding premise — architecture and ecology as one system — to ask what the concept demands once stripped of its utopian and technocratic assumptions. Papers might reexamine historical precedents or propose new theoretical models for what arcology could mean now. - Nature of Ecology + Architecture
Interrogates the terms themselves: what counts as “nature,” “ecology,” and “architecture,” and how their boundaries have been drawn, disputed, or dissolved. Papers might draw on Indigenous knowledge, more-than-human theory, or critical geography to unsettle disciplinary assumptions. - Education for Practice
Examines how architectural pedagogy prepares — or fails to prepare — practitioners for ecological accountability. Papers might address curriculum design, studio methods, or the gap between what schools teach and what practice demands. - Prescriptions for Change
Calls for actionable frameworks, policies, or design methods that move architecture toward material and territorial accountability. Papers might propose new professional standards, governance models, or design strategies grounded in stewardship. - Interdisciplinary & Open Call
For work that engages the colloquium’s themes but doesn’t fit neatly elsewhere — speculative projects, cross-or-interdisciplinary research, or emerging inquiries into architecture’s ecological futures.
